‘Get the Site Right’ campaign to target repeat polluters
The latest ‘Get the Site Right’ education and compliance campaign is currently underway. We have once again joined forces with the NSW EPA, Department of Planning & Environment, Cooks River Alliance, Georges Riverkeeper, Sydney Coastal Councils Group, and Lake Macquarie City Council to target erosion and sediment control on residential and commercial building sites across Sydney and the Central Coast.
Building sites that fail to control their sediment runoff will be targeted this month as we work towards increasing compliance rates to improve the health of the Parramatta River and other local waterways.
The Blitz Day will be held on Tuesday, 14 May when all participating councils, NSW EPA and Department of Planning & Environment will be out in force on the one day to inspect building sites and issues fines where appropriate.
A further blitz day is planned for Tuesday, 14 October to provide an opportunity for officers to follow up repeat offenders and maintain awareness of erosion and sediment control.
